Collage of Engineering at Al Ain University Organizes an Educational Visit to WETEX 2026

The College of Engineering at Al Ain University organized an educational field visit for Civil Engineering students to the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2026), held at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Organized by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), WETEX is a leading platform that brings together industry leaders, technology providers, experts, and innovators to showcase advanced solutions in water, energy, environmental sustainability, and sustainable infrastructure.
The visit provided students with a valuable opportunity to extend their learning beyond the classroom and engage directly with contemporary engineering technologies and industry practices. Students explored innovative technologies, interacted with industry representatives and technical experts, discussed real-world engineering challenges, and examined practical applications of sustainable solutions across the water, energy, infrastructure, and environmental sectors. Such experiential learning opportunities play an important role in strengthening students’ understanding of the relationship between theoretical engineering concepts and their practical implementation. The visit also enhanced students’ awareness of emerging technologies, sustainability-driven engineering practices, current industry trends, and evolving professional opportunities within the engineering sector.
Beyond its academic value, the initiative strengthened the connection between engineering education, industry engagement, and sustainable development, encouraging students to recognize their future role as engineers in addressing complex environmental and societal challenges. The visit directly contributed to several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation, SDG 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy, SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities, SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production, and SDG 13 – Climate Action.
This initiative reflects the College of Engineering’s continued commitment to experiential and industry-informed education, providing students with meaningful exposure to technological innovation and professional practice.
