  • Posted on:Oct 07, 2026

The English Language and Translation Program at the College of Education, Humanities and Social Sciences at Al Ain University organized an event to celebrate International Translation Day 2026 under the theme “One Family, One World, Many Languages,” in conjunction with the UAE’s Year of the Family 2026. The event aimed to highlight translation's role in bridging cultures, fostering communication, and promoting mutual understanding among people from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

Organized by Dr. Mona Kamal, Director of the English Language and Translation Program, the event emphasized translation as a means of cultural and intellectual exchange, bringing individuals and communities together across languages, cultures, and generations, in line with the event’s theme.

The program began with a welcoming address, followed by an interactive lecture titled “Will AI Replace Translators?” The session explored the future of the translation profession amid rapid advances in artificial intelligence, highlighting emerging trends and the continued importance of human translators and their linguistic and cultural expertise as they adapt to technological developments.

The celebration also featured a student exhibition, where students from the program presented a variety of creative displays and interactive activities, demonstrating their language skills and ability to apply academic knowledge in practical settings. Faculty members, administrative staff, students, and guests engaged with the exhibition.

The event welcomed Grade 12 students from Baraem Al Ain School, who actively participated in the lecture and exhibition activities. Their visit provided an opportunity to explore the university environment and learn more about the English Language and Translation Program, including its academic offerings and future career opportunities. The University's English Language Center also hosted an informative booth that attracted considerable interest from visiting students.

The event reflects Al Ain University's commitment to organizing academic and cultural initiatives that enrich students' learning experiences, enhance their knowledge and skills, and keep pace with developments in language, translation, and technology. It also reinforces the University's efforts to strengthen engagement with educational institutions and the local community while promoting cultural diversity and openness to different languages and cultures.
